17 METERS OF EXCITEMENT
Heir to over 40 years of experience from the First range launched by Bénéteau in 1977, the First 53 sets its course towards efficient cruising.
It is the first «Luxury Performance» unit designed for demanding owners and expert sailors. Hull and wheel balance for unique sensations, fluid deck plan, seafaring and modern interior against a backdrop of white lacquered bulkheads and molded wood: with the First 53, the new generation First is underway!
A fortunate combination of classic and modern lines, marked by a fine straight bow but with volume forward, and a half-beam of 5m set far back, the First 53 immediately displays a vigorous, seaworthy sailing character. The cockpit has been particularly studied so that nothing obstructs circulation towards the bow: maneuvers near the double helm station, with easy access to the side decks, space entirely dedicated to relaxation near the companionway. The unobtrusive deckhouse lends a classy style, and the flush deck, a modern look. With a powerful but perfectly manageable sail plan for a reduced crew, and high-end mast and sails, the First 53 marks a new era.

It's the grand return of molded wood, a noble material with polished finishes, against a backdrop of lacquered bulkheads and a teak floor for the interior of the First 53, which isn't overly extreme in its modernity. Full shelves and handrails make up the interior, which features three double cabins and two heads. The major innovation in this interior lies in the lounge/relaxation area, equipped with a sofa and low table, separate from the galley area featuring a dining table. The whole space is bright, airy, and easily communicates with the exterior via an easy and intuitive companionway.

First and foremost, the First 53 responds to a precise brief: to be the new benchmark for fast, luxurious cruising sailboats. Two years of development were necessary for excellence to hit the water and meet the demands of the most discerning owners in terms of helm sensations, speed, and life aboard at anchor.

The fluidity of movement has been designer Lorenzo Argento's focus, from the helm stations to the winch layout for maneuvers and deck access. Behind the removable transom, which converts into a swim platform, a garage allows for effortless storage of a 2.40 m tender.
For maximum feel on the helm, sail balance, and weight distribution, these were the cornerstones during the boat's conception. The center of buoyancy, for example, is aligned with the center of the sail plan. A straight bow with volume, a very set-back midship beam, a draft of 2.50 m or 3 m (with a lead bulb), and twin rudders to perfectly control this lively hull – the First 53 has all the attributes of a hull that eats up miles quickly.
