Excess 13

DESIGNED FOR SAILING, CRAFTED FOR LIVING

Excess expresses a certain idea of navigation: stimulating, free and daring. The Excess 13 takes this idea one step further. Designed by a passionate team, this catamaran is the result of a long reflection process based on the pleasure of sailing, the pleasure of living on board and the pleasure of enjoying the playing field that extends around the ship.

A STRONG CHARACTER!

Excess 13

The personality of the brand is further affirmed with the Excess 13. Strengthened by the ideas of its new team of architects, it unveils a modern, dynamic and effective interior design, in line with its powerful exterior lines.

The Excess 13 is a stylish, reliable and lively sailboat. Ready to cross the oceans. It is equipped for all forms of loving the sea. It is designed to create intense moments and unique memories. Its spaces have been optimized to facilitate life on board and increase storage space, lighten the structure and improve sailing sensations. This uncompromising balance reveals a dynamic ship with unique potential, designed for sailors eager for pleasure, freedom and challenges.

A NEW TEAM OF ARCHITECTS AT THE HELM

This new model preserves the DNA of the range, created with VPLP and Patrick Le Quément for the first generation of Excess catamarans. With the architectural mastery of Marc Lombard YDG, the Excess Design Team continues and reinforces the development of the innovative and dynamic second generation of Excess catamarans.

“The project was both simple and ambitious: to create an evolutionary catamaran that was balanced, reliable and offered good sensations, all combined with the comfort and interior volume that have made the Excess a success.

The shape of the helmets, the weight, the composite structure, the distribution, the ergonomics, the efficiency of the sail plane… Everything in this new Excess is designed around the pleasure of sailing with ease and living comfortably on board. “

DESIGN: A FINE-TUNED EXPRESSION OF THE BRAND’S DNA

The conception and design of our Excess 13 are based on the codes of our previous models. On the outside, the Excess teams have taken up the lines of the hull and the shape of the doors and have worked around this base to create a new model according to the DNA of our brand.

For interior design, Jean-Marc Piaton began with interviews to identify, understand and penetrate the spirit of the brand and give it content.

” We have heard about thirty people talk to us about the brand: employees, owners, dealers, landlords, etc. What emerged was a very positive perception and, above all, very identifiable. It is an exceptional situation for such a young brand, but also very interesting in terms of design. Hervé Piveteau had great expectations of lightness, both real and perceived, and wanted this new model to fit well with the existing models, without creating a too marked break.

LESS IS MORE

The philosophy Less is more, (Less is more) has inspired the design of the Excess 13. The goal is to offer greater functionality and greater pleasure on board, while limiting negative impacts and the amount of materials used. This approach is in line with the aspirations of sailors for greater sobriety and simplicity. This translates into lighter but robust boats that offer great emotions when sailing.

« Less is more means a constant search for optimization. In the Excess 13, among other things, we have installed a rainwater recovery system on the roof, which is stored in a tank. An effective ventilation system allows you to limit the power of the installed air conditioning system. In the cabins, the doors have a double function, as an entrance door and as a closet door. When one is open, the other is closed. This may seem anecdotal. But less materials and more circulation space are small details that, together, make the difference. »
